From where comes the all
The first collaboration of the cooperative Progetto Città I.A at European level can be traced back to 2007, to then become structured in 2013: since then Progetto Città has welcomed about twenty young people from Spain, Portugal, France, Germany and Hungary, with long-term projects (12 months) of European Voluntary Service (Erasmus+ Program of the European Union) via the National Agency for the young people of Rome. And now the cooperative has again achieved accreditation (one of the few ligurian institutions to having it) for the coordination of other accredited bodies and for the realization of projects of reception and sending young volunteers until the end of the program and+ (2020).
What is the current project?
The current project takes the name of “Evs On Air” and has among its objectives is the promotion of European voluntary service through radio, web and media, providing participants with a basic language training and their insertion into the interior of centers social, educational and ludoteche. The realization of this service has prompted not only commitment in order to obtain accreditation, but also many resources:
Progetto Città I.A has believed and believes in these opportunities for young people and to Savona there is available a large apartment for kids who are hosted: Welcome them represents a veritable revolution for the social fabric of the territory, especially in these times of crisis.
Precisely for young people from other European countries, it is also important to the language factor:
The boys, in addition to the experience of volunteer work are also facing an important linguistic path
Explains Adelia Marenco. Already five young people arrived in Savona between late February and early March: the twentysix-year-old Sara Pius Valley and Itziar Pardo (Spain), Carlos Remigio 26 years old (Portugal), the eighteen-year-old German Witaszak Vanessa and the Hungarian Tamàs Hortolanyi 28 years old.
E così Sara, ragazza spagnola di 26 anni, ha preso parte al progetto grazie ad una organizzazione che si occupa di offrire queste opportunità ai giovani:
I Work in Italy in the ludoteca in Finale Ligure with refugees, I like very much this country, I am happy to be here also because this experience is very important for my future
Equally enthusiastic Vanessa, German girl of 18 years:
I am very happy to be here in Italy. Learn to work in the educational sector represents for me a wonderful opportunity for growth
What differentiates the European voluntary service with respect to the known Erasmus Project, relates in particular to the manner of performing. In fact, young people who adhere to this experience, do conscious to take part in a voluntary project:
The youths will be inserted inside activities of a social nature, educational and which relate to the territory.
Concludes the referent of the project city to Savona, Adelia Marenco. There are already plenty of young Italians who have participated in the European voluntary service thanks to Progetto Città. Giulia Benzo, from Savona, is one of them:
I have been to London within a community African-caribbean, I worked with children and also with refugees and it was a beautiful experience.
The aim of the project is to increase the feeling of European citizenship, put into crisis by the recent Brexit. The latter did not seem to discourage many young people, just as Giulia, who have decided to undertake this experience in conclusion:
A boy should choose the European voluntary service – especially for a factor of personal growth and also to discover the beautiful part of Europe.
Now Progetto Città I.A launches an appeal to the Municipality of Savona so games an institutional role in this project. An Appeal upheld by the Councillor for youth policies, Barbara Marozzi:
The promotion of this project is crucial to get to know this possibility to all the young people of Savona, we will be giving our full support, also collaborating with schools.
The final objective is to provide a new informational pole in Savona, where among the proposals also enable the sending of the young savone both abroad as well as the civil service both as a European voluntary service.
